Summer is over...

And I am terrible at this blogging thing.

In my defense, the summer flew by fairly uneventful.  Our last big hoorah of the summer was a trip to the beach.  We had plans to go to the OBX of North Carolina, but Hurricane Irene had a different plan for us.  Our flights were cancelled and refunded, so we packed up the truck and took a road trip to Destin FL.

Our first road trip with Hailey went fairly well...I'm not sure who was worse in the car, me or her.  All things considered, she did pretty well, and I was impressed by how easily I was able to keep her entertained for the 12 hours to and from.  I think Josh was secretly happy to be in the driver's seat with me named Hailey's servant for the trip.  Let's just say Mama needed some wine when we arrived....and when we got home.

We met Net and G, Uncle Roy, Aunt B and Lucas at the house (that we managed to find one day before our arrival....thank goodness!!)  The house had a private pool and was only a short walk to the beach, three stories with plenty of room for the babies to run.

On our first morning, Josh and I took Hailey on a walk down to the beach, where I thankfully had my camera.  Who would have guessed that our little dare devil would HATE the sand??  See....

Hailey hates the beach August 2011

She really hated it....I've been told that she is definitely my child.  Apparently, I didn't like dirt and sand much as a kid either....who, me??  Ha! Ha!!

Once we tormented her to get some cute pictures, we tried daily to get her in the sand, but we left Destin with a child who never learned to like it.  Thankfully....we had the pool, and many other fun things to do!

Little fishie in the pool...her favorite place!

Where is the year going?

Oh my how time flies!  So much for that once a week posting goal...out the window!

Well, it's now July and hotter than hell every day....I am definitely looking forward to cooler weather in the fall.  We've been having a great summer, though despite all of the hot temperatures.  Last weekend was the 4th of July Holiday and we had a nice relaxing weekend of swimming, food and friends.  For once, we didn't really have any set plans before the weekend began and were just able to go with the flow as things came up.  So nice!  Hailey got to spend some time with her friend AJ playing at 'the beach' (Stonebridge Ranch Beach Club).  It will be interesting to see how she does with our trip to the actual beach in August since she wasn't too wild over the sand.

Josh and I went to Kaboom Town in Addison while Hailey stayed at Net and G's house Sunday night.  Good times for all involved and I got to play with my camera and tripod taking pictures of fireworks.  Fun! Fun! See....

All was good until the truck broke down on the way home....what a disaster!  It was towed to the Nissan dealership, thankfully, still under warranty!

Monday, when we went to pick up Hailey, we hung around mom and dad's house for a while and let Lucas and Hailey play.  Lucas also got his head shaved....looks so much better than the rooster tail he was growing.

Before...

'Help me Auntie M!'

Then they played in the kiddie pool....or Lucas did while Hailey (who normally is the fish of the two) whined and cried.  Her teethers were hurting her....not fun for anyone involved!!

She did have fun splashing in the tub that night after a nice long nap and some Motrin to keep the pain of those darn teeth at bay.

Here's my water baby...

That's all for now...until next time! (Hopefully I can pull myself back onto the once a week goal!)

Father's Day?

This past weekend was Father's Day weekend.  Josh spent the entire weekend (with help from dad) building a pergola on our side patio....or should I say putting up 4 posts for a pergola on our side patio. :)  After long days and lots of sawing, bleaching, staining, drilling....and multiple trips to Home Depot and Lowe's, we have the base of what is going to be a beautiful pergola!

Hailey spent a lot of time looking out the door wanting to go outside with her daddy, but it was too dangerous for her curious little self to be out there amongst the power tools and falling boards.

Fingers crossed it will be finished this week so we can actually enjoy it....and Hailey doesn't have to stand at the door to see her daddy.

Captain Hailey

This past weekend, Hailey had her first boat ride.  As we approached the boat, she was very excited.  The excitement continued as I sprayed her down with sunscreen....then, I put her life jacket on her.  Excitement over.  This was the first time she had ever worn a life jacket and she didn't want anything to do with it.  After a 20 minute hissy fit while sitting on her daddy's lap as we idled out of the marina, she discovered the steering wheel.  Then she was hooked....she became the captain, and LOVED it!!

Hailey driving the boat.

After driving the boat for a while she discovered that 'going fast' was pretty fun too!  With the wind in her crazy hair, she started having just as much fun riding along.  She did really well on her 'sea legs', walking around on the boat and balancing well....we might have a little lake rat on our hands (if her daddy has anything to do with it).

All in all, not a bad first trip to the lake for the little monkey....hopefully she'll get used to the idea that she has to wear the life jacket and the fights will become less and less with each trip out on the water.  We shall see...

Here we go....

Ok, I'm going to use this as a way for family and friends to keep up with our family and what is new with us.  I will still use Hailey's shutterfly site as a place to put all pictures, but I'll put some on here too, along with things that are going on with us.  My goal is to post something at least once a week....so like the title says, here we go.....
